IBCM4The purpose of the International Brethren Conferences on Mission (IBCM) is to bring together every four years the national leaders of local churches connected with the Brethren movement across the world for spiritual reflection, fellowship and, we pray, renewed experience of the Lord. The overall goal is the mutual encouragement of leaders in the movement in the different countries. The specific objectives of the conferences are:
  • To seek the presence and direction of the Lord together
  • To enable leaders from across the world to discover and encourage one another
  • To strengthen networking and fellowship
  • To raise awareness of the spiritual challenges of current trends and cultural developments
  • To share practical experience, ideas and methods
  • To encourage younger leaders
  • To encourage the development of regional conferences with similar objectives
Those active in the Brethren movement in its various branches throughout the world are welcome at the conferences.
 
IBCM6 Conference announced
It is proposed that the IBCM6 Conference should be held near Rome, Italy, on 22 - 26 June 2015. More details.
 
The Brethren Movement
Thanks to the remarkable outreach of Brethren churches and missionaries over the last 150 years, there are congregations related to the Brethren movement in over 120 countries in the world. There are more than 20,000 such congregations with an attendance of perhaps 2 million people each Sunday. In some countries, these local churches have seen remarkable growth in recent years, both in terms of numbers of churches and overall numbers of people involved. In other countries, there is decline or numbers are small. Because of the nature of the movement, over the past generation international contacts have been lost and some national groups feel isolated. IBCM, and the regional conferences which it has spawned, are important means of rebuilding necessary international contacts for mutual spiritual blessing and encouragement.
 
 
 
The IBCM5 Conference was held on 13 - 17 June 2011 in Strasbourg, France at Strasbourg on the Franco-German frontier. Including local helpers and attenders, there were some 480 participants from some 90 countries of the world.
